Good Night and Good Luck Ned, Olive and Chuck

Pushing Daisies pushed its last Daisy Saturday night. While one can argue with the end of a truly wonderful show, one cannot help but marvel as the show decided to wrap it up.
.
To say I won't tell you how it ends is stupid - because if ever a show was about the journey, not the destination, this one was. And it is all cheery colors and a happy place, even as murders were committed by window dummies, great white sharks, and poisoned honey, it was home to Chuck and the Darling Mermaid Darlings.
.
And the Darling Mermaid Darlings, in the end of all things wonderful, took once again to the Aquacade for a final performance.
.
Sure the quick wrap ups were a little "tacked on". Story lines that could have used a whole hour to wrap up (Li' Gumshoe) were given a line or two. But they were wrapped up and that is a blessing given that the show was cancelled. No one phoned in their performance, it was - until the bittersweet end - all bright colors, great smiles and wistfulness.
.
The last episode gave full flight to Swoozie Kurtz, Ellen Greene and Kristin Chenowith. I think Lee Pace, Anna Friel and Chi McBride stepped back a little to give the girls room to run.
.
I cried. but I am a pushover for a happy ending. Especially when it happens to a one-eyed Mermaid who gave up a daughter to keep a sister and feed her bitterness with vodka and nasty jokes and still made you love her.
