Maine Trip Wrap Up

So… back from Maine.
.
It is hard to describe Maine – the lexicon needed is visual not verbal. The trip was about the burst of colors, the deep blue of lakes on an island, the leaves turning, the sunlight falling through the trees.
.
So I have included a link (here via Kodak Gallery) to the pictures. There are way too many (200) – but you can look if you want. Simply repeating “it is sooo pretty” is kind of lame, even for me.
.
I loved the beaver dams. I loved spending time with Lynn and Eddie. I saw boring towns (most of them) and really quaint towns (Camden in particular).
.
Acadia is stunning, but not truly the amazing place that you might think. A lot of the “East” is full of round hills they call mountains, mammoth –but boring- lakes and rivers so big they never rush. Acadia is an exception. It is a wild coast that is fun. After the beaches and woodlands of the East in general – it is really refreshing.
.
For those of us from the West and Wisconsin / Minnesota it is a more familiar landscape. We have seen stark rocks, pounding surf and rapid rivers (and minigolf). That isn’t to take anything away from the trip… I LOVED IT. But, Acadia shines exceptionally in relation to the Eastern Seabord.
