The Family Research Council has published stories about President Obama pursuing the "Radical Homosexual Agenda". Conversely, President Obama has brought on the first major boycott of gay donations to the Democratic Party.

How did this happen?

The obvious answer is that he is taking a careful middle path, and thereby pissing off the anti-gays (the FRC) and the gays (the HOMOs). Obvious and historical, this is what kind of happened with Clinton where is actions - no matter how positive, let us down and annoyed the Right.

It is obvious and wrong. No, President Obama has followed a stupid path (one hopefully laid out by someone else).

President Obama speaks forcefully about the need for gay rights, repeal of Defense of Marriage and Don't Ask Don't Tell and the basic equality of us all - bringing the Family Research Center and many on the right into a tizzy.

But he doesn't do squat about it. His Justice Department has defended "Defense of Marriage" and "Don't Ask Don't Tell" with vitriolic anti-gay briefs (last week the Dept. of Justice used 15 year old quotes from Colin Powell to justify DADT, when General Powell has spent this year arguing for its repeal - article here). For the gay community he has been all talk and no action. So we stopped giving him money.

He has somehow turned a "us / them" situation - where he should at least make some people happy into a "lose / lose" situation. In trying to keep the votes of some on the Right and the money from big Fag donors coming in, he has lost both.
