Pic of the Day: Aug 14th

I love this picture.  We were in The Boulders, a park in South Africa that has 2 sections.  A protected section where penguins can roost, sleep and raise their young undisturbed and a swimming beach.
.
Well, over time the colony has grown from 20 breeding paris to hundreds.  And the penguins have spread.  They now have roosting nests up and down the area, where people see them and they aren't "protected" per say, but everyone respects their privacy.  It helps they have sharp beaks and aren't afraid to use them.
.
But the old swimming beach is still open and used by people and the penguins.  Normally with little to moderate interaction.  But this little girl was fascinated by the penguins and she was chasing after him as he was making a beeline to the water.  Neither one was a particularly good walker, both swaying back and forth nearly as much as they were propelled forward.
.
It was a crack up and good fun.  Both the girls parents, Ed, Susie, Sean and I as well as the other penguins watched the entire thing in amusement.  (I know, anthropomorphism, but I swear I heard little penguin chuckles.)
