Pocotelj

Pocotelj (which is spelled with the upside down hat over the c) is an old fortress town.  It protected Mostar from attack via the sea.  Which, of course, didn't help when the Ottoman's attacked from behind.  But about 200 years later the Ottoman's lost their seaport up here and Pocotelj was once more important as a fortress for Mostar.

It is a beautiful hill town, twisty and lovely.  And a great day for exploring it.  It was 12 degrees C today (which is around 54) so the hiking wasn't horrible.

Until I finished.

In the picture above, the building on the left is a restaurant, the building ont he right is a restaurant and the fencing is a Beer Garden.

In season.

I suppose I don't need to add that since it wasn't "season" there was nuttin' to eat.  I found a tacky road side bakery a kilometer or so away (the bartender said it was "100 meters" up the road - read on McDuff.
