Speaking of
God, The Universe & Everything
.
The
other day ripples from the Big Bang were found.
Maybe… using telescopes and measurements from Antarctica. Now, it also seems (for reasons that are
perfectly clear to scientists, but not to me) that this also proves the entire
Multiverse Theory. Which is oddly, I think good news for Religious people.
.
See, the
idea of a Multiverse is that our physical world is just one of a number (I
forget if it is a really really big number or an infinite “number”) of
different Universes / Realities. So,
even though our particular Universe is infinite it is but one of a massive
number of infinite universes.
.
I like to
think to if as champagne bubbles in a martini glass – but I think this is a
visual from a John Varley book and relates to a space station pool. But it doesn’t matter.
.
Anyway, the
thing is if there is an (near)infinite set of universes then it should be
possible that in one of them (maybe this one) there IS a God who organized
things.
.
I’m not saying he is sitting in
Heaven with a Blond Beard making the hair grow on the palms of naughty little
boys around the world; but still there is no particular reason which one the “God
Universe” is, shouldn’t be this one? And no
reason that the “Godless Universe” shouldn’t be this one either, but I would assume we wouldn't even ask the question int he other one.
.
But it is
Schrodinger’s cat all over again, right?
