Alabama: Leading the Way Backward for over 150 years!

One Alabama - you cradle of hatred and bigotry - nice to see you true to form.   So heart-warming to be part of your history of being on the wrong side...
.
For those of you that are unaware, Gay Marriage has been upheld by all Federal Circuit Courts (but 1).  For the states under those Circuit Courts, it is the legally binding United states law that Gay Marriage must be allowed in that particular state.
.
This annoys and infuriates many states, many people and many state judges, but has been implemented now across the land - you know "respect for the rule of the law" and all that.  Except Alabama.  Today it was suppose to be the law in Alabama.  But Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore forbid it.

.
"Can he do that?" you ask.  Of course not.  It is a grandstanding gesture of hatred that is the norm for Alabama.
.
In 1861 (over 150 years ago), Alabama issued order of session to create a government with other slaveholding states - specifically calling out slavery as the reason.
.
Having lost the war and their minds, in 1901 Alabama created their 6th constitution - and the longest still operating constitution in the world.  It's length due to the state representatives' desire to keep the races apart in perpetuity (LINK).  It specifically forbade blacks and whites from attending the same schools.
.
Gov. Wallace facing down feds...
In 1963, the Governor himself stood at the University of Alabama to block the entrance of two black students that were admitted.
.
And it isn't just blacks and gays.  Chief Justice Moore hates everyone that isn't his type of Christian.  He was removed as a judge once before for refusing to remove the 10 Commandments from the State Courthouse.  He said this about other religions (LINK).
.
“Everybody, to include the U.S. Supreme Court, has been deceived as to one little word in the First Amendment called ‘religion.' They can't define it They can't define it the way Mason, Madison and even the United State Supreme Court defined it, 'the duties we owe to the creator and the manner of discharging it.' They don’t want to do that, because that acknowledges a creator god. Buddha didn't create us. Mohammed didn't create us. It's the god of the Holy Scriptures...They didn't bring a Koran over on the pilgrim ship, Mayflower. Let's get real. Let's go back and learn our history."
.
Absolutism is great in a person (maybe) or a preacher (definitely)but not so much a State Judge.
