These Two Headlines (from the Same Website) Show The Problem

The Daily Beast had two headlines about the debate.  And they strike to the heart of this year's issue.  The first is that the debate last night was untethered to reality.  The "answers" were recycled stump speeches.  And when the lies were tossed out, the moderators never queried further.
.
This was partially in response after the CNBC debate, where the candidates felt attacked (and like a cage match) because the questions were sometimes stupid and lies were challenged.
.
My question here is, supposing I am a Republican supporter, will these debates help at all?  By letting lies go at this point, when the winner gets to the actual Presidential debates against Hillary (or Bernie) will they be shocked when their lies are challenged.  Does making the candidates feel good right now prepare them for the actual race?
.
Anyway, the two headlines..
