Twenty Years from the End of the Bosnian War (Story 1)

December 15th will be the 20th year since the Dayton Peace Accords were singed in Paris (they were negotiated in Dayton).  I am, as you know, obsessed with Bosnia, for reasons unfathomable to most.
.
So I will share a new and odd story a day until the anniversary of the Peace Accords.  Don't worry, I will still flail about with other things, but this will be happier news.

My photo of the Castle (very artsy, oui?)

.
So these ruins I took a picture of in December of 2013 (2 years ago now!).  It is the remains of (the think) Herceg Stjephan Castle from the 13th century - just outside Ljubuski in Herzegovina (link).  Ok now the weird story.
.
During this time of Bosnian home rule (between Rome, then Byzantium but before the Ottoman Empire) many in Bosnia were not thrilled with the Church, neither Latin nor Orthodox, as they both, you know, attacked them.  Bosnians had their own Bosnian Church.  Not a lot was know about the Bosnia Church even two years ago, but in the last two years the story has been pieced together.
.
The Bosnian Church was a Christian Bogomil sect, labeled as heretics from both Rome and Constantinople.  The Bogomil sect (related to the Cathars) believed in a duality.  That God's eldest sone, Satanil, turned to the dark (devil), and was cast out of Heaven and became Satan.
.
Satan is the source of evil and the physical.  Our physical being, pain and suffering was created by Satan - the God of the Old Testament.  God, via Jesus, gave the gift of goodness, spirit and redemption.  Unlike many dualist religions, the Bosnian Church did not require users to abandon the physical necessities or pleasures.  I wish I could tell you how that worked, but that is beyond me.

Yeah, yeah yeah. It's a professional.  Another view
