I think Religion can be a great thing - and it gets a lot of knocks for always being
anti.. Anti-gay, anti-birth control, anti-science. But that isn't what Religion should be about.

A new study (
link and article from Salon here) show that the
more Religious states, particularly in the South, give
more to Charity than less Religious states. Giving to charity is something we all should do when we can. And
kudos to those Religions that stress that.

It is easier to harp on what institutions get wrong than what they get right. Donating time, money and emotion to charity is one thing that Religion gets very very right. Time to congratulate the Religious institutions for that.
