Benjamin Netanyahu hates Barack Obama so much that he cannot even pretend to be civil.

He tried, clumsily and ineffectively, to influence the outcome of the election.* Prime Minister Netanyahu takes the United States support for granted and is an asshole to us; waiting out Barak Obama's term with the obvious expectation that the next President will be more subservient.

Unfortunately for Bibi, his laser focused hatred is blinding him to the Republican tea leaves. The whole country in general, and the Republicans in particular, are moving to a more isolationist international policy. Being a dick to Americans publicly, lecturing the President openly, all this may make Republicans like you because they hate Obama too - but it demonstrates that you are an asshole that hates Democrats. That is going to be a costly in any future Republican administration determined to pull back from the world. Or more costly in a Democratic administration that now understands, nothing will accommodate date Israel.**

* This is the mark of true hatred, I think. Bibi is an expert politician, but his hatred of Obama blinded him so much that he was both obvious and clumsy in our recent election. Snubbing Bibi now holds no downside for Obama. Bibi has already told all the US (and all of Israel) that Obama is no friend of Israel. Anyone who believes that crap already does, no matter what the President does.

That was a strategic mistake. At this point, opinions are set. Obama could kiss Bibi's big fat ass or tell him to pound sand - and no opinions would change. So why go out on a limb for some blustery liar who is going to trash you no matter what?
