But see, as anti-everything you now deny describes how the right media (Fox News, Rushbo, Sean Hannity and others) motivated the Republicans to vote. The candidate didn't sell a plan (Romney wouldn't show a plan details) - so the media catered to the antithesis of culturally modern, economically inclusive and environmentally responsible. To now say to your backers, "all we have to do is the exact opposite of what we told you for the last twelve years" is crazy.

Mitt Romney might have been able to change all his positions like flipping the pages of the Kama Sutra, but the big money behind the Republican party may find it harder to convert the followers away from the exact positions which brought them into the party.

Say what you want about the Republicans, but I do think most of the feet on the ground believe what they say. Unlike the media who kind of says what sells. What Mr. Frum is suggesting is to change the Republican Party into (as the Tea Party would say) RHINOs.
