When you have a Rainbow Flag or Jesus Fish on your car, then you DO have to drive better

If your rich and Catholic, you shouldn't have a whinge-fest about the new Pope in the media.  It is the same as driving like an asshole when you have a identity sticker on your car.  You cut someone off and they will think, "That's a blank for you."
.
If you choose to identify as some group and have a voice, people will make assumptions about that group based on your actions.
.

Mr. Langone is a case in point.  The Pope has hurt his feelings.  And he might, therefore, not help rebuild St. Patrick's Cathedral.  First Mr. Langone, your a billionaire, people were trashing you (right AND wrong) long before the Pope said generalized things about unfettered Capitalism.
.
If you don't want to contribute to the Church, don't.  But extortion - which is what your are doing - is morally dubious.  You have now placed the Pope and the Catholic Church in an odd position.  If they ignore this facet of scripture, they look craven to donations.  You might have just perpetuated what you hoped to stop.  Also, scolding the Pope because he hurt your feelings looks petty.  I mean do what Henry the VIII did, start your own church.
.
But, more importantly, you have made Catholics, in general, look like hypocrites.  Rich Catholics, in particular, will be generalized as hypocritical Scrooges.  Jesus (pillar of the church) would not stop proselytizing due to blackmail.  Jesus did, in fact, care for the poor and the underserved.  If you don't like that, then don't be a Catholic.
.
People, not just Catholics but people of all religions and those of no religion, admire this Pope because he preaches the best of Christianity.  He is NOT trashing Capitalists; he is reminding people that they have a commitment to one another.  If his words don't apply to you, then ignore them.  There are plenty of Capitalists they do apply to.  Being rich isn't a sin.  Not at all.  But it is better to be rich AND to share, to donate, to care for others.  If you think the Pope's words aren't for you, then help spread them to those they are for.
.
And if you can't do any of that, shut up.  You look a fool.
