So Reeve
Carney lives in the building and is a nice guy.
He was Spiderman on Broadway for nearly the entire run, until the
Showtime Series Penny Dreadful this year.
He got the role of Dorian Grey on the series and left Spiderman.

However, he
is now done filming the series and is back in the building for a while (I think his
lease runs out later this summer). He
and his mom came down for dinner the other night and we all had a great time.

Yacky. He was yacky. Mom was yacky. I am always yacky. Ed could barely get a word in edgewise.

After that he invited us up to watch the show
Sunday night (he watches live and tweets – as they do now a-days). So I went up last Sunday.

Well the
first episode – which we watched without him – included a sex scene in which he
was buck naked (from behind) and going at it with Billie Piper – who plays a
lady of the night. At dinner at our house, we asked
about it, like, was it embarrassing in front of mom.

Well, Mom is a total SoCal hippie, so not at
all. However Grandma is apparently much
more traditional. Mom said that
Grandmother’s comment was “My! Well..
Reeve is very good at doing what he was doing.”

Sunday as I
was sitting in the bedroom (Reeve has a semi-music studio in his living room so 8 of
us were piled in the bedroom) when the show came on. It closes with a very sexual kiss between
Reeve and Josh Hartnett. It was odd
watching the scene with Mom, his girlfriend, his band mates, a couple of girls from Spiderman
and his dresser from the show. It was a
wild mix of personalities, sexual orientations, ages and experiences.

Mom knew it
was coming, but his band mates didn’t and there was quite the talk. Ultimately I think the general question was,
“Wow! What is Grandma going to say about that?”

One interesting thing. Reeve is a tall kid - but Josh Hartnett towered over him. I had to ask how tall he was. Mom, who has been on the set a lot, said (rather breathlessly I must admit) "Big. Like around 6'3"...) and then sighed a little.
