Tina Brown, a respected figure in media (she is on the border of "journalist" and "personality" nowadays) started The Daily Beast a while back (six years ago?). And while the Beast has gone through many changes, one thing hasn't changed and that is "The Daily Cheat Sheet".
.
It is a morning grab bag of 10 stories that Tina found interesting. And while I would love to make fun of her priorities, except I totally enjoy the Cheat Sheet. It is just enough breaking news, NYC gossip, international top story and political mischief to be fascinating. Look at today's lineup.
.
First, video of the NYC police doing a good job. After the bad press they are getting she wants to give them props where deserved. Plus, non-controversial video of a cop take-down, score!
The two "news"ish stories with nice photo ops.
.
look Then an Uplifting(?) story of the NYC Ranger who helped his team win the hockey game, even after losing part of his ear in period 1.
.
Then... Politics. International News.
.
look Crazy rich foreigner gets what's coming to her.
.
International news.
.
look Sony story as excuse for stupid celebrity aliases.
.
Like I said, just enough news to make the case it is a news magazine, not People. And just enough guilty pleasure to make us read the news.
.
As for that Crazy Rich Foreigner story. It is too juicy not to share.
