Why So Quiet Scooter?

I have been a little quiet recently. Let me give the quick run down why, without getting all political on you.
.
The Obama administration, faced with a number of critical issues including 2 wars, a financial crisis, and wanting to move on Health Care has been very quiet on gay rights. No big deal. No one really expected him to live up to his promises to homo's any time soon. I mean, bigger fish to fry. Hell - Iran is blowing up before our eyes.
.
Then, last week, the administration issued a brief defending the "Defense of Marriage Act" in court. They didn't have to defend it, but they did, still okay - it's the law.
.
However the Department of Justice legal brief had some of the most appalling language in it you could imagine. The compared my marriage to incest (in comparing our CA marriage that states don't have to recognize to 1st cousin marriages : although 1st cousin marriage do get federal benefits), the compared us to pedophiles (in comparison to Uncle / Niece underage marriages in Italy that they don't have to recognize), they said that we DID ACTUALLY have the right to marry (opposite sex members), and that it would cost money to grant us marriage status. Which is true, but kind of an odd argument when they also said we weren't denied any benefits.
.
Anyway, it was a brief against a gay couple married and legal in California. Full list of annoyance to Scooter here and, like the worst offenders before (Bush and Clinton), he decided to drop this news on a Friday afternoon hoping to avoid notice.
.
The fun news (if you are me) is that there is a HUGE DC Fundraiser for the Democrats geared towards us equivalent-to-pedophile-and-incestuous-fags. It is this month - and a lot of big name gays are pulling out and pissed off.
.
So tonight (at 5:45 - again too late for the Network News) Obama is going to grant "benefits" to unmarried partners. Stressing that this is for gays and unmarried straight couples. Only you see, it only goes for federal workers. AND it doesn't cover health insurance (because DOMA forbids giving health care that to homo's or homo couple's childern).
.
By the by, both Citibank and Ed's work deny pension benefits to us because DOMA says they don't have to give the same rights to a gay married couple as a straight married couple. I (clearly) won't be at work long enough to get a pension, but it just busts my nuts anyway.
.
So off my horse and on to fun... But that explains the quietness.
.
ps - Yes I have written my representative, pulled my money from the Democratic Party and generally made all the noise I can.
