The NY Times and Time Magazine, as well as countless book review web sites have gone a little over the top on this one.

Apparently it is a near term future where bio science runs terribly amok, followed a future 100 years later where bio science has created monsters close enough to vampires to tap that vein of literature.

Justin Cronin is a "serious" novelist who has deigned to make a vampire novel and it will be big, Big, BIG!

And, annoyingly, I now want to read it.
