Math is Hard

So the New Yorker has a great article today about spending cuts.  Basically, it says the Republicans want a bunch of spending cuts, but wont' propose exactly what they want.  They can't even send a proposal with specifics to President Obama - because  the rhetoric ("there are tons of savings out there") doesn't match the reality (we don't spend all that much on anything besides defense and health care).
.
They can't support more cuts in health care, because that would mean supporting "ObamaCare", which tries to reign in Health Care costs.  And they  won't support Defense cuts - despite everyone saying there are savings there - because that is their big anti-Democrat line.
.
We already way underfund infrastructure, Social Security is in fine shape, cutting benefits for people like Warren Buffet are tough because no one wants to define the line at "rich"...  No one knows what do to (except Paul Ryan who wants to end Medicare, cut food stamps and stop welfare - but then you have to pay to bury all those poor people).
.
So they sit and whine that Obama won't propose any cuts.
.
But my favorite part is the caption in the picture - reproduced below.
