How is this Global Warming?

Well a) it should be called Global Climate Change because it will effect our climate in many ways some expected and some unexpected.

And b) it is, actually, due to Global Warming. Remember all those stories at the end of the Summer and Fall about how the Arctic Sea thawed more than every in history. Come on, go way back a few months. There you go, now you remember (if you don't here is a LINK). Well the Sea Ice makes a huge low pressure area above it. And that super low pressure area pulls the Jet Stream way up north.

Now without all that Sea Ice, the Jet Stream isn't pulled way up north. The Jet Stream stays, squatting like an unwanted tenant, along the Canada US border. Which means - snow later in the year.

So yes, all that snow you hate really IS Global Warming. Again - it's too late to fix this - we have, as they say, screwed the pooch, so let's try to learn how to live with it.

"Well then", it makes sense to say, "at least next year there will be lots of sea ice because it is so damn cold." Nope. See the since there wasn't so much ice last year, it didn't get as cold (blue sea water sucks the sun's energy, where sea ice reflects it) so there is even less ice to start with. This is what is called a feed-back loop, where a result makes the conditions more favorable for that same result over time. Oh it does get worse (worse before it gets better - thank you Deanna) because if the ground thaws, the "permafrost" becomes not so "perma", a shit-load of methane will be released into the atmosphere. Methane is a super greenhouse gas.

My advice, buy a new snowblower when they go on sale this summer (if summer ever comes).
