Saturday Trip to the Brooklyn Navy Yard

Last Saturday, Star Wars Day (May the Fourth..), Eddie and I went to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
.
The Brooklyn Navy Yard used to be a gigantic ship building facility, fallen into disuse in the late 1970s.  But starting from the 1980s, Brooklyn has worked with the government to try to repurpose the site.  It seemed to take off in the 2000's and now houses sound Stages, internet start-ups as well as some local small scale manufacturing.
Building 92 which houses the museum.  The buildings skin is recycle steel with pop-outs
to let in light but keep the building cool.  The design is the prow of a ship bult here.
.
It is very cool.  We toured Building 92, which is where the museum is.  It is a pretty cool, pretty empty, interactive museum that shows the growth of the Naval facilities and then the transition.
.
Model of the USS Missouri
This is a bit blurry, but this is a model of the USS Missouri.  This was the ship that hosted the Japanese command when the surrender to the Allied Forces to end World War II.  It was built at the yard.
.
Admiral's Row Housing (well, not now)

We also passed these buildings that were cool / creepy.  We found out at the museum that this was Admirals Row, officer housing.  They are going to try and rehab them, maybe for retail.  These are the few parts of the yard that the Navy still owns.
