The Thin Man Goes Home is my favorite film of my favorite series.
.
By this movie, the formula worked out perfectly. Myrna Loy and William Powell had settled into a comfortable and easy relationship. Joking, flirting and at ease as a couple. The movie is fun as it explores Nick's youth, his relationship with his parents, and going back to your roots.
.
It also shows America after the war. The trip in a crowded train car, the desire for small town values in a big city world.
.
It is also the funniest of the movies as far as I am concerned, with a great little mystery at the center of it. And little Nicky, often a drag on the proceedings, is kept away at boarding school - unseen.
.
And one of my favorite lines. As a railway worker sees Asta he says, "Pretty dog. Sptiz?" And William Powell answers, "No, just growls a little."
