So, I understand (I don't agree, but I understand) the point of view of some people who support the Duggars. I understand the talking points about this whole thing. From their point of view, this was terrible, but Josh Duggar has asked forgiveness from the Lord and it has been granted. From their point of view, liberals are making hay out of this to hurt Christians in general and the Duggars in particular. From their point of view, this is a tragedy that should be private.

However I don't think their interview helped anyone outside of their supporters.

Here are the key takeaways from a liberal point of view. I am not asking that you agree, only that you listen to the points. Just like I listened and understood the Duggars points.

First, the Duggars and their supports talk a lot about Josh, but almost zero about the girls. Four different daughters and a babysitter, one only 5 years old. In the interview the parents repeatedly said the girls didn't even know what was gong on. For many of us, that is a stunningly callous response. You have turned the male into the victim here, without a thought of what happens to the girls. Even when Megan Kelly prompted you about the girls, you dismissed them.

Second, this tragedy is only public because you have made your lives public. You choose to put your family on TV. And this type of thing comes out, whether you are the Duggars, or the Karashians, or Jon and Kate. You can't blame the media for being interested in this when you invite the media in.

Finally, you have set your family up as the arbiters of family values, so yes, this does matter to the liberals, whom you bash constantly.
- Mrs. Duggar made robo calls during an election against non-discrimination for LGBT rights in Little Rock. She made those calls specifically against men using the women's bathroom (which isn't the point of any of these laws). So the fact you hide a child molester is kind of important.
- And the child molester himself (Josh) led the Family Research Council against gay marriage and gay rights. Often talking about gay pedophiles preying on children. When, in fact, he preyed on his sisters and a female babysitter.

So it isn't a witch hunt. The media is chomping at the bit because you made yourself a media family. Some liberals are stuck in an "I Told You So" mode, because you have been very un-Christian like to people that aren't just like you.

I am the same as I have always been. I think pedophiles should be castrated at best.
