Tonight's Explorer Club Talk

So tonight Eddie and I went to the Explorer's Club of New York for a talk.
.
It was my second time there and Ed's first. You will have to ask him if he liked it, but it was totally totally cool.
.
First, the Explorer's club is the coolest place in the world. In the anti-room is a stuffed Polar Bear, shot and donated by Rudolph Valentine! Also a sled used by the first aircraft to circumnavigate the North Pole.
.
Plus free wine.
.
Then we heard a talk from Cary Wolinsky - who is a photo journalist, primarily supported by National Geographic - who talked about textiles of all things. And it was amazing.
.
He used his pictures and talked about wool, silk and cotton (touched on Linens). It was surprisingly interesting - and his pictures are amazing.
.
At one point he was trying to see how fast wool grew (apparently if you don't shear sheep the wool doesn't stop growing). In the picture he took below he had a New Zealander cut half the sheep to test the grow. Unfortunately, the sheep was too heavy on one side, fell over and they had to try it a different way.
.
In the picture below it is a woman of Panama who makes the cotton prints based on patterns they see in nature. They have a different blouse for every day of the year.
.

.
Anyway it was a great discussion, Eddie saw the club (and loved it) and it was cool.
.
Plus I learned things about silk worms I never knew (fascinating things).....
