Over the long week-end Eddie and I were originally suppose to be in Palm Springs - we hope to close out that in 2 weeks (fingers crossed and knock wood).
.
Speaking of knocking wood,we went to the huge Macys at Herald Square. It is two buildings combined and 8 stories tall. The topmost stories have furniture and luggage - and haven't had a lot of updates. One thing they have is increasingly rare. Wooden Escalators.
Eddie took this picture of the wooden escalators as we were coming down. Once big reason they are rare is the London Tube fire at (?) Kings Cross. I think it was there. They had huge long wooden escalators that caught fire. The fires are rare, but if they happen to catch they are bad because the wood on these has a lot of oil as lubricant.
.
Last night we went to the US Open and saw John Isner (below) play a Ruskie (Mikhal Youshny).
The picture isn't altered, he is freakishly tall. He is 6'9", so he has an amazing wingspan, but he doesn't move around the court nearly as fast as others.
