Kurt Vonnegut: It Sings, It Dances, It Entrances

The poster in front of the theater.
For those of you not in love with Kurt Vonnegut, I pity you.

You don't know (or understand or enjoy) the beauty and prose of the early Vonnegut.  Sure, he got odd and hit or miss later.  Dead Eye Dick, great.  Galapagoes, meh.

But God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater is perfection.  Not as perfection as Slaughterhouse Five or Player Piano - but perfection none the less.

And the City Center, which revives lost shows, just put on the musical of God Bless You Mr. Rosewater.  With Santino Fontana and James Earl Jones as Kilgor Trout!!!!

Well, if you don't know, you don't know.

But it was lovely.  Charming, Quaint, and a great afternoon.  Music and Lyrics by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman (of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast fame).

I enjoyed it immensely.
